Hey ya 2 posts in one day? Can't help it but I'm running out time, this need to be posted by today.
So cheer up, and start reading.
Restriction Movement Order (RMO) in early March 2020 has cut all my travel planning this year. It's not good because I'm supposed to join international program to Australia and also Padang, Indonesia. However, another thing happen during RMO is that I'm stuck here, at mahallah ever since the government implement the order. Here alone in my room without my roommates at all. Luckily, there are some students that stayed in my block. So it's not that boring and too quiet.
On the first day of RMO, there's an announcement on free food distribution for students that choose to stay at mahallah. (Its not that I choose to be here, but it just happens) Gladly I went to the hall mentioned to get my food, thinking all the cafes are already closed. There, I meet with the students in charge that also happens to be my friend, Nisa. She offered me to join as students in charge distributing free food for students stranded at Mahallah. Not so much work I thought, so I agreed.
We take turns each day with another group to watch over the food for stranded students. Ticking their names when they came and make sure all the food are not wasted. Whenever I'm not in charge, I stayed in my room, fangirlling, watching kdrama and sleep (like most of the times).
Not forgetting, I'll call my parents like everyday updating my daily life here at mahallah. Some of the days we get dried food either from food bank association or IIUM Alumni. Moreover, whenever their is food distribution, I'll stay a little longer and chatted with them. Cause ya know, there's no one at my room and I'm pretty tired to spend the rest of the days alone.
I remember one time we made steamed chocolate muffin, using oreo and fresh milk. We also test our cooking skills with making 'Kek Batik' with the help from our fellows to buy the ingredients. And tell you what, I discovered my hidden talent in making cakes! Totally gonna boast about it!
As time goes by, it almost Ramadhan. Some of the students have requesting the government to let them went back to hometown. However, we spend the 1st day of Ramadhan together at mahallah. It's a bit weird to perform terawih alone at my room. Usually, I'll follow my dad to terawih at mosque. But not this year I guess.
After one week of Ramadhan, the government decided to send all the stranded students back to their hometown. I'm quite excited, and my name is already on the second list! However, I decided to stay back and lend a help in arranging the students back to their hometown. 'Ops Pulang COVID-19' were establish to ease the flow in sending back students.
It is very momentous to watch it on my own how the sanitation process. I'll keep the memory forever in my mind. That's is how I spend my time during RMO stranded at mahallah.
